I'm rather intoxicated and I'll be analyzing a few interesting matchups.
Frank Edgar vs. Chang Sung Jung - UFC FW title with Edgar defending. I think the first few rounds would be spent in a furious back-and-forth grappling exchange with little to none of the expected fireworks on the feet. I think that Jung would probably catch Edgar on the feet as they settle in for the third, maybe midway through. Jung wins the FW belt by KO (punches) 2:19 R3.
Jose Aldo vs. Frank Edgar - UFC FW title with Aldo defending. I think that this fight will look painfully similar to Aldo's domination of Urijah Faber in the WEC, leg kicks included. Aldo defeats Edgar via Decision (Unanimous).
Jeremy Stephens vs. Bart Palaszewski - Stephens' FW debut. Two hard-hitters. The fight would be a vicious one-round war with both fighters trading knockdowns. Stephens dropping Bart first with a big right hand and Bart landing his own crushing right hook and follow-up barrage for a knockout with less than thirty seconds left in the round. Palaszewski defeats Stephens via KO punches 4:34 R1. Stephens protests the stoppage.
Melvin Guillard vs. Michael Johnson - Melvin gets another chance at a favorable matchup.. The first round would likely be spent mostly in the clinch with some separation, mostly Guillard on top when it reached the ground. 10-9 Guillard. More grinding ground work for Guillard in the second, Johnson had some brief success. 10-9 Guillard, Johnson's corner was not happy. "This is what you fucking worked hard for," they tell him. Johnson came out smiling for the third nevertheless. Guillard ground out most of the round on top again, handing out more punishment now than both earlier rounds combined. 10-9 Guillard, 29-28 Guillard split decision.
Luke Rockhold vs. Cung Le - Rockhold's UFC debut. The first round the two mostly circled at range, throwing potshots at each other. Both experimented with flashy kicks. In the second it was Le who scored with the first kick and the last one, hurting Rockhold with a turning side kick to the liver and pouncing with punches on the ground to finish him off. Le defeats Rockhold via TKO (kick and punches) 2:15 R2.
