The fight was Per Eklund's UFC debut. Most of the fight was Sam Stout defending single-leg takedowns.
The Fight[]
The first round began and they touched gloves. Eklund landed an inside leg kick and then a front kick. Eklund landed a body kick. Eklund landed an inside leg kick. He ate one. Four thirty-five. Stout stuffed a single and elbowed the shoulder. They stood to the clinch. Eklund kept on looking for the single, Stout stuffed it again up to the clinch with four fifteen. Stout kneed the body nicely. Eklund broke with a knee to the face at four minutes. Stout landed a body kick. Stout landed an inside leg kick. Eklund landed an inside leg kick. Stout stuffed another single up to the clinch with three thirty. Beautiful takedown defense from Stout. They broke. Three fifteen. Stout sprawled and stuffed another single down into guard. Three minutes. Eklund landed a pair of heel kicks. He tried for a triangle, Stout pulled out and stood and let him up. Two thirty-five. Stout landed an inside leg kick. He stuffed another single and another. He stuffed another and landed a pair of body shots with two fifteen. Eklund pulled guard. Two minutes. Stout stood dodging a pair of upkicks. He let him up. Stout missed a left hook. Eklund landed a body shot. Stout stuffed another single. One thirty. Eklund looked for it again in the clinch. Stout landed a pair of body shots. One fifteen. Eklund looked for it again. A pair of body shots. Eklund almost completed it with one minute. Stout stuffed it though up to the clinch. He landed a body shot. 'Knees!' Stout landed a nice elbow inside. Thirty-five. Stout stuffed another single and landed a trio of body shots. An elbow and another and another to the kidneys with fifteen. Another. They stood and Stout defended another single and landed another punch to the kidneys. The first round ended. Stout couldn't seem to find his corner. The second round began. They clinched sort of and broke. Eklund landed a body kick and an inside leg kick and blocked a body kick. Four thirty-five and Eklund had the standing back, Stout rolled for a kneebar Eklund avoided and had the standing back and dragged him down and had a hook. Four fifteen as Stout turned on top to guard. He landed an elbow. Another elbow. Another one. He stood with four minutes dodging another upkick and let Eklund up. Stout missed a big right hand. Eklund landed a front kick. Eklund grazed with a high kick and they clinched with three thirty. Stout landed a knee to the body and another to the leg. Another to the leg. Three fifteen. Stout avoided a trip and they broke. Eklund was tired. Stout stuffed another single and stood with three minutes. Eklund was slow to get up. Stout landed an inside leg kick and dropped and nearly got caught with a high kick and laid on his back and stood as the crowd booed. Stout stuffed another single and avoided an armbar and a pair of upkicks. Two thirty. Stout stuffed another telegraphed single and turtled Eklund up with two fifteen remaining. They broke. Two minutes. Stout missed a left hook and Eklund got a slow sloppy double into guard. One thirty-five. The referee wanted action. Eklund held Stout down. He tried to pass, Stout rolled to guard reversing and he avoided an armbar and stood wtih one fifteen. Stout easily stuffed another single. He landed a right hand standing over Eklund, and a right and another left. One minute. 'Watch that kick when you're down!' Eklund controlling the arms. Stout landed a right hand and stood. Thirty-five. Stout landed an inside leg kick and a blocked body kick. Stout stuffed a single. Fifteen. He kicked the leg of the downed Eklund and again twice. He kicked it again. And again. The second round came to an end. The third round began. Eklund landed a jab. Stout stuffed a single. Eklund laid there. The referee stood him up as the crowd booed. Four thirty-five as Stout stuffed another single. Stout just shoved Eklund down after a bit at four fifteen, Eklund laid there and then stood. Four minutes. Eklund landed a right hand. Eklund landed another right hand. Stout missed a spinning back fist. He stuffed a single to the clinch. He kneed the leg twice. And again. Three thirty-five. Stout broke with an elbow and stuffed a single. Eklund laid down. The referee paused the fight to tie up Stout's shorts. Meanwhile, Eklund laid down for a bit and then stood before they were done and they continued with three fifteen. Eklund landed a pair of jabs. Stout stuffed another single. Three minutes as Eklund pulled half-guard. Stout stood. He kicked the leg. He let Eklund up. Stout blocked a high kick and Eklund fell at two thirty-five. Stout let him up. Stout stuffed another single and landed six body shots hmmerfists. Five more. Five more. He stood. He let Eklund up at two minutes. Stout stuffed another single. He kicked the leg. And again. He let Eklund up. One thirty-five. Stout blocked a front kick. Stout missed a leg kick. He missed a high kick by a mile. One fifteen. He stuffed another single and avoided an armbar standing up. He kicked the leg. One minute as Stout let Eklund up. He stuffed another single. Nope actually Eklund got that one to the butterflies. Thirty-five. Eklund was trying to pass. Fifteen. They stood and broke. Stout stuffed another single and hammerfisted twice. Stout tried a Superman punch downwards to the guard. The third round ended. Stout helped Eklund up and hugged him. Stout had the 30-27 unanimous decision. They hugged again.
