Masakazu Imanari is a fighter who has fought at lightweight but currently competes at bantamweight.

He most recently faced Hiroshi Nakamura, losing via unanimous decision in a non-title bout. He next competed in the first-ever Dream bantamweight grand prix. He faced Keisuke Fujiwara in the opening round. He defeated Fujiwara via a relatively close decision.

Imanari moved on to the semifinals later that night. He defeated Kenji Osawa via signature heel hook submission in the bout's second round. With the victory, Imanari moved on to the finals to face Hideo Tokoro to crown the first-ever Dream bantamweight champion.

At this time, Imanari vacated the Deep bantamweight belt that he had held since 2008. Tokoro later defeated Imanari via decision to win the all-Japan tournament. He next faced Abel Cullum in the quarterfinals of the Dream world bantamweight grand prix, defeating Cullum via third-round armbar submission to move on to the semifinals.

Imanari was set to face WEC and UFC veteran Antonio Banuelos in the semifinals.
