Jorge Gurgel is a fighter that has competed at welterweight and also currently at lightweight, for the UFC and now Strikeforce.

Gurgel is married to a fellow MMA fighter: Bellator female champion Zoila Frausto.

He most recently fought boxer KJ Noons. Noons defeated Gurgel in a controversial and bloody fight, knocking him unconscious in the second round.

Gurgel was next set to face newcomer Tyler Combs, but Combs suffered an injury and he was replaced by fellow newcomer Billy Vaughan on three days' notice. Gurgel defeated Vaughan via guillotine choke forty-four seconds into the first round.

Gurgel next fought in the main event of a Strikeforce Challengers card against Strikeforce and Bellator veteran Joe Duarte. Duarte handed Gurgel another loss via upset unanimous decision.

Gurgel next signed to fight Adriano Martins on the final Strikeforce event, losing a dominant unanimous decision.

Gurgel took off nearly a year to the day before signing to make his Titan FC debut in January 2014 against UFC veteran Mike Ricci. Ricci dominated Gurgel en route to a first round technical knockout loss.

After his mother was tragically struck by a car and killed in late August 2014, Gurgel chose to honor her wish for him to retire and did so in September 2014. He was 37 with a final record of 14-10.
