Jon Jones came into the fight undefeated. He had an eight-and-a-half inch reach advantage and a three-inch height advantage. The fight ended in a controversial disqualification win for Matt Hamill and the first "loss" of Jones's career.
The Fight[]
The first round began. Hamill landed a leg kick and another. Jones missed a teep to the face narrowly. Hamill landed a leg kick. Hamill landed a leg kick. Hamill blocked a headkick. Jones landed an inside leg kick and dodged another inside leg kick. Jones landed a spinning back kick to the knee. Jones landed a nice right hand, and a very very nice body kick that hurt Hamill's ribs. Hamill missed a spinning back fist. Hamill landed an inside leg kick and ate another leg kick. Hamill came for the single leg kick, Jones spun and avoided and they broke. Hamill landed a jab. Jones narrowly missed that spinning back elbow. Hamill landed a leg kick. Jones landed a leg kick, Hamill checked a headkick, Jones landed a knee to the body and got that throw takedown to side cotnrol and dislocated Hamill's shoulder and pounded and began pounding away viciously with big punches and massive elbows, massive elbows, massive elbows over and over, big elbows, over and over and over and over, oh man. Another and another and another, Hamill's nose was bloodied, possibly broken badly. Punches coming down. Three more elbows. Another elbow to the forehead and more and more, just over. Two illegal elbows and another and another. The referee stopped the fight and it was over. Hamill just laid there as a point was taken. Blood was slowly running into his eyes. Hamill could not continue. Hamill had been defeated. Hamill's nose was smashed badly. Jones was very satisfied. Jones was now 10-0. They announced the disqualification and Jones looked comically shocked and the win was for Hamill and Jones had been 'defeated' for the first time ever. Oh man that sucks ass. Jones was utterly shocked and disbelieving but humble. He said that everything happens for a reason.
