Ivan Salaverry

Ivan Salaverry is a mixed martial arts most well-known for his pioneering use of the crucifix position (otherwise known as the Salaverry) from side control.

Salaverry most recently came out of retirement to replace an injured Phil Baroni against Brit Matt Ewin in 2011. Ewin defeated an ancient-looking Salaverry via unanimous decision.

Salaverry fought Fraser Opie over a year later losing via second round disqualification after landing an illegal kick.

Salaverry waited almost another year before signing to fight Jack Marshman.
