Alexander-jardine

Houston Alexander is a fighter that formerly fought in the UFC, known for his punching power and aggressiveness and his tendency to be in trouble once the fight hits the ground.

After being cut from the UFC after losing to Slice, Alexander dropped another loss to another future UFC fighter Joey Beltran. He then picked up a win over David Griffin by decision. He next fought fellow former UFC hype machine Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Shark Fights originally approached Houston about a rematch against another fighter on the card, fellow UFC veteran Keith Jardine. After losing a dominant first round, Alexander made a comeback in the second round defeating Sokoudjou via TKO, a very late stoppage.

Alexander was next set to fight a rematch against James Irvin. Unfortunately Irvin tested positive for steroids following his loss to Jorge Oliveira and the fight was canceled. Houston next faced Brian Albin, winning via third-round doctor stoppage. After some time off, Alexander next faced fellow UFC veteran Razak Al-Hassan. He also defeated Al-Hassan via third-round doctor stoppage after Al-Hassan broke his fingers.

Alexander next faced Steve Bosse, losing via a beautifully brutal second round standing elbow knockout.

After a rather lengthy hiatus, Alexander returned to MMA signing to face fellow UFC veteran and former heavyweight Gilbert Yvel at light-heavyweight. Yvel scored a comeback first round knockout over Alexander to shock many.

Alexander next made his KSW debut for the title against champion Jan Blachowicz losing via unanimous decision for his third straight loss.

He then fought Dennis Reed winning via first round submission due to punches.

Alexander next fought Chuck Grigsby for the Victory Fighting Championship light heavyweight title, knocking Grigsby out in the fourth round.

Bellator[]

Alexander then stepped in on short notice to make his Bellator debut replacing former light-heavyweight champion Christian M'Pumbu against fellow newcomer and UFC veteran Vladimir Matyushenko. Matyushenko defeated Alexander via unanimous decision.

Alexander then fought Matt Uhde also in Bellator winning via doctor stoppage between the second and third rounds.

He then fought Virgil Zwicker fighting to a majority draw largely due in part to headbutts delivered illegally by Alexander. The two men soon rematched with Zwicker pulling out a close split decision win. A third fight was more than called for.
