The Fight[]
The first round began and Tanner landed a leg kick and Baroni landed a big combination. Tanner got the clinch and Baroni stuffed the takedown and landed some good shots inside. Tanner looked for a double-leg and Baroni defended. They broke. Tanner is cut somewhere from the early barrage. Tanner is cut on the forehead, and also under the left eye. His face is a bloody mess. Baroni landed a big left hook and stunned Tanner again. The doctor was called in to check it. He continued. Baroni lands a big right hand. Tanner grabbed the plum and landed four knees to the body of Baroni. They broke. Three minutes remained. Tanner landed an inside leg kick. Baroni stalked Tanner and landed a right hand. They clinched. Tanner landed some knees and they broke. Tanner landed a leg kick and ate a counter left hook. Tanner was a little wobbly. They clinched again. Nothing much happening. Two minutes. Tanner went for a double-leg and got it with one twenty left into half-guard. Baroni was holding on, stalling for a standup. Couture yelled for Tanner to try and get the finish. Tanner landed some right hands in under. Tanner landed a pair of heavy elbows. Tanner passed to mount with thirty seconds left. Tanner landed repeated elbows. He kept landing them but Baroni didn't seem worried. Larry Landless stopped the fight. Baroni throws a punch at Landless from his back. They exchanged words and Baroni threw another punch. Both missed but Baroni grabbed Landless by the throat. John McCarthy entered the ring with Dana White. Dana White yelled 'Fucking settle down!' Baroni shoved everyone away. Landless said 'I asked him if he wanted to continue and he said stop twice'. Baroni said that he said 'no, stop asking me'. Baroni talked to Tanner and Tanner agreed that the stoppage was early. Baroni apologized later. They got a rematch.
