Clifford Starks came into the fight undefeated.
The Fight[]
The first round began. Both men were ready to go. Clifford landed a right hand and another, ate two counter right uppercuts and another. Four thirty-five. They clinched. Herman kneed the body. "Try to double up!" Herman kneed the body. Three thirty-five as Herman stuffed a trip attempt. They broke as Herman landed a blocked left hook there. Starks landed a straight right and a stiff jab. Starks landed a nice right hand. Wow! Starks landed anotehr big right. Herman landed a left hook. They clinched. Three minutes. Two thirty. Herman kneed the body breaking away. Herman landed a right uppercut. They clinched there. Two fifteen. Herman's left ear was bloody. Two minutes. Someone booed. Herman kneed the body and again and broke with a right uppercut. They clinched again. They broke. One thirty. Starks landed a big right and a left hook, stuffed a double to the clinch. "He's hurt!" One minute as Herman got a double to half-guard. Herman landed a left elbow. Starks worked for a kimura. Starks reversed to guard landing a left and a right. Thirty. Herman landed a right elbow. He wanted an armbar. Starks landed a right. The first round ended. 10-9 Herman but very close. Very hard round to score. "Finish this!" Herman's corner told him. "Let's break him now!"
The second round began. Herman's left eye was swollen up visibly. Herman landed a body kick and slipped, standing back up. Herman's eye was bothering him. They clinched up with four fifteen on the clock. Herman landed two left elbows there. Herman got a beautiful trip to side control and mounted beautifully. He had the back with both hooks there. He had btoh hooks and the choke. He worked hard for it. Starks was defending. Herman had it tight and Starks tapped! Nice! "He hit me HARD a few times," Herman admitted, "and I'm lucky that I have a good chin." He also called for his cornerman Ryan Schultz to be given a chance in the UFC.
