Brian Cobb is a lightweight fighter currently competing in Gladiator Challenge. He made his short-lived UFC debut versus Brit Terry Etim, losing by headkick knockout and cut from the promotion's roster. He went on to lose a second match in a row versus Ricardo Tirloni via rear-naked choke in a smaller regional promotion. He picked up a victory to snap the losing streak, choking out Johnny Carson in the first round via rear-naked choke.
He next fought Kazunori Yokota in Sengoku. After struggling to make weight and missing by a bit, Cobb edged Yokoto via a narrow split decision. At first, two judges scored the bout a draw and were forced to pick a winner under the "must decision" rule.
Cobb next faced Radley Martinez, defeating him via rear-naked choke submission towards the end of the first round.
He next replaced Hermes Franca to make his MFC debut. He replaced Franca against fellow UFC veteran Drew Fickett. Fickett controlled the majority of the first round. Cobb broke free near the end of the round and unleashed a furious bombardment of punches to the downed Fickett. Cobb kept up a good pace and velocity with the ground and pound and Fickett wasn't defending himself. The ref stepped in. The upset victory extended Cobb's impressive record after being cut from the UFC to 4-1.
Cobb was next set to fight for the MFC lightweight title against champion and fellow UFC veteran Antonio McKee. McKee came in seven pounds overweight against Cobb and McKee was stripped of the MFC lightweight title and he was also informed that he was fired from the MFC roster after the Cobb fight, win lose or draw. Cobb would likely become one of the top contenders for the vacant MFC lightweight title with a victory over the already vanquished McKee.
McKee instead defeated Cobb via unanimous decision after a fight in which Cobb looked mostly rather "lack-luster."
He then fought prospect Ronnys Torres winning via a split decision in his World Series of Fighting debut.
He next fought undefeated prospect Justin Gaethje losing via third round technical knockout due to leg kicks after a great effort.
