Brendan "The Hybrid" Schaub is a UFC heavyweight fighter and a former NFL player. He has an impressive record of knockouts with his only loss coming from knockouts as well.

Schaub holds notable victories over Gabriel Gonzaga and Mirko Filipovic.

Brendan most recently defeated Chris Tuscherer via first round knockout after dropping him early with a right hand.

Schaub next faced Gabriel Gonzaga, winning via unanimous decision. Gonzaga was cut afterwards. Schaub called out Frank Mir after the victory. In mid-December, Mir verbally agreed to face Schaub in March 2011. That fight was shot down and Schaub was next rumored to face Stefan Struve. That fight, too, was shot down and Schaub was confirmed to be facing legend Mirko Filipovic.

Schaub defeated Filipovic via third-round knockout even after suffering a broken nose. The loss sent the legend out of the UFC and Schaub climbing up the ranks of the heavyweight division. Schaub next faced aging former Pride heavyweight champion and former UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The legendary Nogueira knocked out Schaub in the first round.

After a short hiatus, Schaub returned signing on to face IFL veteran Ben Rothwell in April 2012. Rothwell knocked Schaub out in the bout's very first round, putting Schaub on the UFC's chopping block for the first time in his relatively young career.

Schaub was next set to face Strikeforce veteran Lavar Johnson in December 2012 but Johnson suffered a groin injury and the fight was scrapped but soon resigned for February 2013. Schaub controlled Johnson on the ground en route to a boring but dominant unanimous decision.

Schaub next signed to face his Ultimate Fighter castmate and fellow former NFL player Matt Mitrione. Despite having been teammates on Rashad Evans's team on the show, Schaub and Mitrione engaged in a verbal sparring match on Twitter.

""Planned parenthood should stop giving out birth control & start giving out copies of @BrendanSchaub 's 15 min. dry humping of Lavar Johnson," Mitrione wrote to Schaub at length. ""Don't count on seeing @BrendanSchaub on the Maury Povich show anytime soon. Cuz after we fight next month, he'll know exactly who his dad is," he continued.

Mitrione was unfortunately injured and the fight was postponed. It was rescheduled. Schaub won via D'arce choke submission in the first round, choking Mitrione unconscious.

Schaub was next rumored in April 2014 to have finally signed to fight Pride veteran Mark Hunt in August 2014.

Instead he next signed in April 2014 to fight returning former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski at UFC 174. Arlovski defeated Schaub via a controversial and lackluster split decision.
