Rashad Evans vs. Mauricio Rua - This fight was supposed to happen at UFC 128 at March 2011 but that's history as we all know who replaced Rashad and went on to reign to this day as the UFC 205 pound champion: Jon Jones. Anyways here's how I saw the fight going. I think Evans would have used his wrestling to put Rua off guard and would have hurt him pretty bad in the first but not finish him because Rua was durable even then. I think he would have put Shogun's lights out in the second with a high kick.

Brock Lesnar vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira - This fight could have been the fight that happened at the historic UFC 100 event if not for Mir's demolition of Nogueira at UFC 92. Here's how I think it would have gone. I think Lesnar probably would…

I'm rather intoxicated and I'll be analyzing a few interesting matchups.

Frank Edgar vs. Chang Sung Jung - UFC FW title with Edgar defending. I think the first few rounds would be spent in a furious back-and-forth grappling exchange with little to none of the expected fireworks on the feet. I think that Jung would probably catch Edgar on the feet as they settle in for the third, maybe midway through. Jung wins the FW belt by KO (punches) 2:19 R3.

Jose Aldo vs. Frank Edgar - UFC FW title with Aldo defending. I think that this fight will look painfully similar to Aldo's domination of Urijah Faber in the WEC, leg kicks included. Aldo defeats Edgar via Decision (Unanimous).

Jeremy Stephens vs. Bart Palaszewski - Stephens' FW debut. Two hard-hitters…

    UFC 155 picks

    December 20, 2012 by Hammeredkomodo

Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez 2 - Dos Santos defending his UFC heavyweight title in a rematch against former champ Velasquez. I think this fight will look a lot like the first one with Cain being forced to stand with Dos Santos where he stands little to no chance of achieving victory. R1 TKO for Dos Santos. Knockout of the Night.

Jim Miller vs. Joe Lauzon - Miller is a late replacement for an injured Gray Maynard. I read on MMAjunkie that Lauzon is predicting a fast-paced fight ending in a submission victory for him. I agree actually. I think Lauzon drops Miller in an early furious exchange and then cinches up a guillotine or a rear-naked choke for the first round submission victory. R1 rear-naked choke submission for Lauzon.

    Tim Boetsch…

Eddie Alvarez vs. B.J. Penn - Alvarez came out throwing leather. He was really taking after Penn. He rocked Penn with a big left hook and chased him as BJ retreated. Penn landed a counter and dropped Alvarez. He pounced and pounded and the ref stopped the fight after about twelve seconds of punishment. B.J. Penn wins via first-round TKO (punches).

Gilbert Melendez vs. B.J. Penn - Melendez was landing good inside leg kicks and flurries. He was beating Penn up. Penn dropped Melendez with another counter and pounded Melendez out as the crowd went nuts. B.J. Penn wins via first-round TKO (punches).

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Shinya Aoki - Kawajiri tagged Aoki repeatedly on the feet from the opening bell. Aoki secured the clinch standing and he tried a …

Okay just gonna post my thoughts while watching the countdown show. I'm bored. Just random thoughts.

    • Wow this is Jose Aldo's UFC debut, and he's the UFC featherweight champion... I knew that but I didn't truly REALIZE it, I suppose.
    • Jake Shields is on a fifteen-fight win streak. He deserves this fight.
    • I'm actually pumped for this main event finally. It's a shame that I won't get to see it.
    • "He's a guy that I've wanted to fight for a long time." - Georges St. Pierre.
    • Shields's striking is truly laughable.
    • Shields's parents look like backwards hicks.
    • Shields used to be a tour guide.
    • Jake's high-school wrestling coach admitted that Shields isn't a naturally-gifted athlete.
    • Shields ran into Chuck Liddell before he was famous.
    • "Chuck completely humbled …

    Name that fight...

In this thread, the guy posted a brief play-by-play of fights and expected the hardcore fans of Sherdog to guess it. I did not look at the guesses until I had already made my own.

He started off with an easy one.

"Fighters come out to the centre of the octagon and exchange tentative jabs from outside range. Fighter A connects with a hard right sending Fighter B staggering to the fence. Fighter A throws a barrage of lefts and rights with fighter B only being held up by the cage. As the referee finally steps in, Fighter B falls to the canvas, while Fighter A runs across the octagon, jumps up on the fence and says something about being pretty good."

That is clearly Phil Baroni versus Dave Menne. Baroni knocked Menne out with a …

I'm a very active member of the Sherdog mixed martial arts forums and I would just like to display the sort of responses I make to average threads.

'Favorite knees'? This thread was where a poster asked everyone what they thought their favorite knee moments in MMA history were. The predictable responses were Anderson Silva's knees in the Muay Thai against Rich Franklin (both times), Joachim Hansen's walk-off knee knockout of Masakazu Imanari in Pride, Wanderlei Silva's knee knockouts of Quinton Jackson in their first two bouts, and of course Jose Aldo's double flying knee knockout of Cub Swanson.

My response is never typical nor predictable. Here it is.

"The first one that comes to mind is probably Ricardo Arona versus Kazushi Sakuraba. Sakura…

Shinya Aoki vs. Lyle Beerbohm: This fight doesn't make sense to me, when it comes to rankings. But I think it will be a good fight regardless. Beerbohm always comes to fight, no matter who the opponent is. Suffering his first loss to Healy probably won't deter him much. Aoki has the obvious experience advantage and is more technical, at least when it comes to the ground. I see Beerbohm pulling out an exciting upset with a unanimous decision victory.
Gegard Mousasi vs. Keith Jardine: Hmm... I give Keith a lot of credit for coming in on a week's notice. Since suffering that five-fight and three-year losing streak, Jardine has won two straight fights in 2011 and he's looking to make it three with a big win over former Strikeforce light-heavywe…

I made these picks about a week before the fights occurred, on a site called Grasscity. Figured I'd post them here to show my prediction prowess. Nearly every pick was ultimately correct. Refer to Wikipedia if you don't believe me haha.

Mr. Wonderful vs. Diet Nog - I always hesitate to root against the Nogueira brothers but I was very unimpressed with Rogerio's takedown defense in both the Brilz and Bader bouts and Davis is a much better wrestler than either of those men in my opinion. I see Davis controlling Nogueira en route to a decision if he can avoid getting caught in a submission or eating a left hook from hell, because every round starts on the feet of course. I say Davis UD.
    Hardy vs. Rumble - I'm not exactly a Hardy fan (that's an…

John Makdessi vs. Kyle Watson - Kyle Watson has the obvious advantage on the ground. John Makdessi has the obvious advantage on the feet, with his insane kicks, incredible composure and overall skill. Every round starts on the feet and it will be Watson walking out to face down one of the best strikers in the lightweight division in my opinion. I guarantee you that -- win or lose -- Makdessi will eventually face the more proven mixed martial arts strikers like Dennis Siver and Jeremy Stephens. I see him finishing Watson midway through the second round. I think for the first round Watson will get tagged repeatedly as he tries to close the distance to grapple and fails, also repeatedly. Makdessi will light him up with high-light reel kicks l…
